the 180 degree rule.

The 180 degree rule

The 180 degree rule is an invisible line that when filming suggests two characters must maintain the same left and right positioning to each other, when the camera passes this 180 line the character position switches reversing the angle and not using the 180 rule can cause confusion for the audience if it isn't followed.
